SUMMARY
This week we learn about privacy. we all haver own privacy.privacy means the quality or state of being apart from company or observation, SECLUSION: freedom from unauthorized intrusion (one's right to privacy)and public contains privacy. so privacy can effect on public, public can effect on privacy.in this situation, surveillance appears this subject. surveillance is supervising something.in addition, nowadays technology develops so much that surveillance turn high-tech. for example, fingerprint, cctv, electric bracelet. these are appear modern history. today, everyone use the internet. and internet and web are the form of express one's thinking. for instance, cyworld is famous for us. people inpur their diary, picture and so on. data mining this concept derive from elaboration. In general, data mining efforts are directed toward the generation of rules for the classification of objects. These objects might be people who are assigned to particular classes or categories, such as “that group of folks who tend to make impulse buys from those displays near the check out counters at the supermarket.”

OPINION
Privacy is really important thing in our life. But our privacy is intimidated by surveillance camera. We can see many camera in our way. In manhaton street that professor show for us are shoke to me. Densed cameras are show us there are no place that we run away from camera. It is for the public secure but it also break aur privacy too.

SUMMARY
This week we learned about HUMAN. There are many substitution for human organ. For example, glasses substitute our eyes. and clothes substitute out skin, and cel-phone substitutes our memory, pinset substitutes our hands, and so on. And we are not free of them- organ. If how we can do if our body has gone. Like accident and so on. If so we suit artificial body. we saw lots of movie or animation on it. 600만불의 사나이, 공각기동대, 로보캅 and so on. We so-called like this person to cyborg. Than we call this people human?or machine?

OPINION
In this topic I think we can't easily justify cyborg is HUMAN. Different in movie A.I. or I.Robot -they are real robot. And think. Do you know Homunculus? This is artificial human. in future maybe homunculus can be true. IN that time we call is it a human? These are same vein.

SUMMARY
This week we learned about GAME. For game, we need Those are graphics(for visual), physics(for effects), A.I.(for NPC, other players, etc.), rules, programming codes, stories, and so on. And in mod, It is the shorter name of 'modification'. It is used in fps games, rpg games, and so on. These are tool of items, characters, etc like a 'Make a new soldier' in 'Three kingdoms' by Koei.In Game programming source It need Physics and A.I. are needed to make a programming codes for a game. Game is need for human. A game does as mirrors, drugs, contests, and metaphysical machines. because we can reflect ourselves by games, and games are addictive little a bit. And we can compete/fight by action game-스트리트파이터, 철권And, we enter metaphysical world by game if the game is made to be metaphysical by directors of game.

OPINION
This week is not sleepy. Because this week's topic is Game. Wow! Game is one of my favorite hobby. And like in lecture, change mod or hacking the game and change character appearance or break the rule are also I do. I hope more game company allow to hack the game and easy to play game for us.

SUMMARY
This week I learned about 'Computer - aid'. First, I know that what is CSCW.CSCW is computer - supported cooperative work. It is Field of research and design.Researchers in this field investigate how people work together in groups, and design computer-systems and networks to enable or facilitate group work. And , CSCW is considered to a part of a larger field known as CHI or HCI.Winograd and Flores present a methodology for CSCW analysis and design. This methodology is commonly known as the “language/action” perspective. And then , we recall key point #2 -Technologies embody social, political, cultural, economic and philosophical ideas and relationships. We think about - we incorporate a network of recurrent conversations in a media technology? The answer from ethnomethodology is that it changes the conversations or social relations. So , key point is that Every digital media technology has an architecture that can be used to transform work, play and governance. For example The Social Logic of Space by Bill Hillier and Julienne Hanson - This book presents a general theory of physical architecture influences social relationships.First we see ' a city plan from Hillier and Hanson' next we see the picture of the “social logic” of the city plan.We consider what is the architecture of cyberspace. Add to, we can see or know Agre's thesurveillance model ,architectures of surveillance , the capture model & its relation to Winograd and Flores.

OPINION
In fact, I don't actually under stand about HCI. I thought HCI is similar to AI but review the professor's presentation that is not actually true. HCI is more relative with social logic or phillosophy. And it makes me hard to understand.
I think I have to more study aout it.

this week's key point>>
People often interact with media technologies as though the technologies were people.
I learned about related points(ethics, aesthetics & teleology, design) and questions.
Also, We studied history of HCI (from a tool-building perspective).

history of HCI as tools: people>>Vannevar Bush: memexJ.C.R. Licklider: computer networking, agentsIvan Sutherland: sketchpadDoug Engelbart: mouse, GUI, word processing, etc.Ted Nelson: hypertextAlan Kay: object-oriented programming, laptops, ...
history of HCI as tools: systems>>Memex: 1945 (concept)Sketchpad 1963NLS (oNLine System) - 1963-68Xerox Alto 1972, Xerox Star 1981Apple Lisa 1983, Mac 1984, NeXT 1988Macintosh Powerbook 1991WWW ~1994
history of HCI as tools: funding>>Military: Navy, Air Force, ARPA, DARPAUniversities: MIT, Stanford, CMU, UCGovernment: National Science Foundation 1950-now Companies: Xerox PARC: 1970-now, Apple – NeXTsimple example..using webcam

question for today>>what problem does Weizenbaum’s ELIZA system address or solve?the artificial intelligence answer: it does (or does not) behave like a human and is therefore successful (or not successful)
the ethnomethodology answer: it is taken to be a like a person in a conversation and thus simply works like most other technologies in a social situation
(※definition of the ethnomethodology>> Ethnomethodology simply means the study of the ways in which people make sense of their social world. Ethnomethodology is a fairly recent sociological perspective, founded by the American sociologist Harold Garfinkel in the early 1960s. The main ideas behind it are set out in his book "Studies in Ethnomethodology" (1967).)

*This week class keypoint: New media technologies usually reinforce existing social networks or even work to isolata people. and they simultaneously challenge existing social, political and economic relationships. This week keypoint is link to 'People make media and then media make people.' nowaday a number of media are exist. and this influence our social network. mainly social network is studied interdisciplinary by social scientists. but physicists and mathematicians contributed understanding of social networks too. the understand of social network is can expecting pattern and quick reaction. Social network is expressed by picture, graphy and chart. and one interesting theory Mark Granovetter, “The Strength of Weak Ties”is Sometimes weak relationship are more valuable than strong relationship. it is interesting and confusing.definition some relationship. example, 'epuivalence' is people that have same social network. and 'centrality' is people that know almost people. that link central position. and 'bridges' is people that link separated group. this is function for social capital. *COMMENTThis week class have a character of social science. nowaday the influence of internet to rerationship is wonderful. Ordinary I think network and rerationship. that's so complicate. thus understanding of socialnetwork always have variables.

Can you live without WWW? I am sure to answer 'NO'.Everybody knows about WWW. If I ask you whether you know about www, you probablely say 'yes', but again asking you to explain what it is? Would you be able to do that? Yes, it is a tough question. Looking up the word in a dictionary, it says the World Wide Web is a computer system which links a documents and pictures and pictures into a database that is stored in computors in many different parts of the world and that people everywhere can use. The abbreviations WWW and Web are often used.As Dr.Yoon says, The WWW is a collaboratively authored hypertext and a standard. Also it is a vast, heterogeneous - means something (an object or system) consists of a diverse range of different items- network of people and machines. Assume that someone wrote a little in a paper and turns to the next person, and then he read it and wrote a little as well, and so on. This concept is collaboratively authered text. Also because of using a computer language HTML, it can be a standard. And do you know who wrote the www standards? There is a national institutes called ISO-international standards organization-. People who belong to the ISO create the standards in many fields. Actually they have created over 12,000 standards. The amazing(?) thing is that how much do you think they pay even to join to there? People who want to join pay $63,500 a year to get a full membership. That's a big money i think, but it would be worthy to them, not to me. Next question, which one do you think is first, a baby's name or birth of the baby? Someone may already decide his or her baby's name before the baby is born. The other hands, when a baby is born, their mother and father give him a name. In the same way, not only people make media, but also media make people. This is kinds of funny thing, but it is true. This all things I learned this week was fun and interesting.

engelbart hypertext lsat week, we learend memex, and Bush's thinking.and this time, we also learend hypertext which is relative with that of last time.hypertext means One way that digital media has been understood is as new forms of writing, reading and thinking. and a system that people get information which was wanted by sequence.this hypertext is similar with dadaism.for example, a person think one word. and think another one word. consistently he think a word. and then he collect word and make poem. but this poem has no sense.second, a person choose an article, cut out article.so they mix and mix. but this cut ups doesn't limited text. voice, sound, image etc. so many things made by this method.engelbarthe wants to increase man's intellect."Man’s population and gross product are increasing at a considerable rate, but the complexity of his problems grows still faster, and the urgency with which solutions must be found becomes steadily greater. Augmenting man’s intellect, would warrant full pursuit by an enlightened society…”as we read that, this world becomes very complex and urgence. so he thinked better, faster access to computer.main point!he invented mouse, demo etc.in that time many people think engelbart's products were poor, no available. but today, we use them perfectly.commentfrankly say, in first I didn't understand the that page, so I read mat times. now a little bit I understand.I think engelbart is a great man. surely he invented many things, but I respect his unique concept. ;paradime. he considerate new idea, practise, research.....so new technology appear world, we use much more convenient .

Summary & Opinion Welcome to the present In the vast interweaving of stories by means of which we create and maintain our human cultures, the story of progress has been one of the deepest and most powerful. Stories have beginnings and ends, actions have consequences. The entire structure of narrative depends upon this simple reationship.Implied in this way of thinking about the world is the idea that we are going somewhrer. that the end of everything, like the end of a story, is going to be satisfying, that it will be in some wense definitive. That's what "end" means, with perhaps the sole exception of personal death; and we don't think about that much anyway.
As we may think A writer of this essay is Dr. Vannevar Bush. Bush argued that as humans turned from war, scientific efforts should shift from increasing physical abilities to making all previous collected human knowledge more accessible. (I thought that most important thing is 'Memex' in this essay. So I described 'Memex'. ) When the data of what kind of type is piled up in Depot, becomes the file with the alphabet order or numerical order. And it tracks information and searches information by classification. In addition, it searches one item, then it comes out from the course system and must input the again new course. The human mind does not work that way. It operates by association. When one item is selected, it moves quickly to selected different item by association of thoughts. It was formed complicated tracks or trails. It move to place which is associated by wheel tracks or trails with non-linear method. Memory is temporary and instantaneous but its speed is great. The data which are distinguished by association of thoughts are quicker and softer than by index. This association indexing is possible by 'Memex'. I think that memex is great concept. Now, we use this concept in the Internet. I heard that 'hyperlink'. The memex is does not understand, but now, I understand from the explanation that hyperlink is a same concept.
